Colorado Falls: In search for the main Falls
COLORADO FALLS
Asiong32 Falls Series 1 of 3
I’ve been planning on exploring Camp 2 in Tuba, Benguet many times but I haven’t got the time and money. Last November 21, I finally did! It was Wednesday and it was my day off from work and I really need to go out on an adventure because I’m already stressed out and planning on resigning again. It was a beautiful day indeed and I remember waking up early that morning excited to meet my friend Jabo who promised to tag along with me in this adventure. At around 7:30 in the morning we were at Session road heading to Governor Pack road to look for the jeepney terminal going to camp 2 in Kennon Road. Unfortunately, there were only few passengers there so we headed to Otek St. near Burnham Park and decided to take the van going to Manaoag instead. It was about 40 to 50 minutes travel time from Baguio City to Camp 2.
Colorado Falls used to be popular, kinda overrated because a lot of people go here. In fact, some travel bloggers already featured the place. But they haven’t seen the real beauty of Colorado Falls. I’m talking about the main falls, and that’s the reason why I came here in the first place…to search for the main falls.
I was excited to see the first falls along the hi-way but our goal is to find the main falls and we couldn’t find any possible way at all. There were a lot of “NO TRESSPASSING” signs all over the place and we were scared to take the risk so we decided to ask permission from the locals. They said yes in one condition that we should look where we’re going and careful not to step on the water pipes along the way. Later we found out that the main falls was their main source of water. It was a long trek going to our destination and there were a lot weird plants and flowers along the way. There were a lot of stray goats or like wild goats roaming around the boulders. There were a lot of dragonflies, moths and butterflies all over the place. The whole area was like a big butterfly sanctuary. It was magical! And there was this old hanging bridge at the middle of nowhere. Until we reached the main falls. I was speechless and breathless. I’ve seen a lot of waterfalls before here in Benguet but by far this was the tallest. I have to admit that I really a thing for waterfalls. It was a beautiful place indeed and it was a perfect place to get know a new friend who happens to be an artist as well…to be continued.
